Doesn't matter if you're a late bloomer
Milineal or a baby boomer
It's no secret, not a rumor
America is the land of the consumer
We buy in bulk we buy super size
We are compelled to spend when offered good buys
If we want it we'll get it after repeated tries
When the sale sign is on we swarm like flies
More than we need more than most get
The richest nation in the world yet
We can't be deterred when our minds are set
A bunch of junk that we soon forget
Still we spend with no regret
The manufacturing cost damages the ecology
The waste produced defies our technology
A mindset that's rooted deep in our psychology
An opponent life for the world to see
A new swimsuit more pairs of shoes
The gun that guy had on the news
More wardrobe to offset your blues
Some magic cream to cover this bruise
We buy for our ego we buy out of greed
Houses full of stuff we do not need
More than we need more than most get
The richest nation in the world yet
We can't be deterred when our minds are set
A bunch of junk that we soon forget
Still we spend with no regret
The entire world is home to 8 billion
For Christmas this year we will spend a trillion
Think of the changes we could make
If we invested half for the poverty chain to break
A bigger TV, a better stereo
Every album and song by Barry Manilow
New clothes to look good while on the go
Expensive cream to make our faces glow
Can we ever stop or at least slow down
In the mountains of waste we may drown
You don't have to impress everytime your on the town
Half the time looking like some weird fashion clown
Save your money invest in feeding those in need
Instead of buying more invest in doing a good deed
We are obsessed and driven by lust and greed
From this obsession we must be freed
