This Is My Son

At Jordan’s banks, the crowd stood still, 
A humble man obeying God’s will. 
The sinless one came forth that day, 
To show the path, the righteous way. 

John looked in awe and felt unfit, 
Yet Jesus said, “God’s plan calls it.” 
The waters closed, then parted wide, 
As heaven’s light poured from inside. 

“This is my Son, the one I approve, 
My gift to the world, the proof of My love.”  
Through him we learn what life can be,

A dove descended, pure and mild, 
Sign of God’s favor on His child. 
Jehovah’s voice rang through the air, 
“My Son, beloved—none compare!” 

The heavens opened, truth returned, 
From days before his birth, he learned. 
Now memories clear, his heart aflame, 
He bore once more his heaven’s name.

The spirit’s force his strength supplied, 
Through every trial, he would abide. 
No crown of gold, no earthly fame, 
But love divine upheld his name.  

He walked with ones of humble heart, 
In every pain, he took a part. 
He taught the poor, gave hope again, 
And showed God’s Kingdom’s peaceful reign.

Each step he took revealed God’s grace, 
Reflecting heaven in each place. 
His tone was kind, his faith was true, 
He did what Adam could not do.  

Through death he proved his faith complete, 
Now life eternal stands at his feet. 
His baptism marked the start of love, 
Approved by God in voice above.

When waters meet the heart sincere, 
Jehovah’s call grows bright and clear. 
We too may stand with lives begun, 
To follow Christ, God’s chosen Son.
