Casey ran off with Bobby on the day she turned 18
Her mama was left in tears and her daddy in a rage
He set out to bring her home with a Smith and Wesson on his side
And all hell was about to break loose
on the Mulenberg county line
Bobby Haskins was a loner just like his daddy was
They were known for risky business, it was deep down in their blood
If you wanted it they had it if it was pills or weed or shine
And the Haskins ran their game
on the Mulenberg county line
Bobby may have been an outlaw, but he was sharp as a razor too
And he swore that he’d have Casey if it was the last thing that he’d do
And Casey loved Bobby and ignored all those warning signs
Till her daddy came calling
on the Mulenberg county line
Everyone knew it’s best to leave Carter Haskins place alone
But her dad was pushing way past the point of no return
Bobby seen those headlights coming and Carter grabbed his 45
Then headed out his front door
on the Mulenberg county line
I’m only here to get my daughter Casey heard her daddy say
Carter told him that it’s up to her should she choose to want to stay
Then Bobby came around the corner with a rusty Randall knife
And bullets started flying
on the Mulenberg county line
Bobby took a round to his side and fell face down in the gravel
Casey’s dad took cover as all his windows shattered
Then Casey came out running when she heard Bobby cry
As Bobby’s dad took a bullet
on the Mulenberg county line
When Bobby saw his daddy he crawled back to check on him
He picked up his daddy’s pistol and he loaded it again
Then he stood and held the gun up with Casey at his side
And he pulled that trigger one last time
on the Mulenberg county line
Casey’s daddy went silent as his gun fell from his hand
And Casey looked at Bobby as he struggled just to stand
As their fathers lay there dying one shot between the eyes
Blood pouring to the ground
on the Mulenberg county line
Casey ran to her daddy and picked up his smoking gun
Then she pointed it at Bobby, there was nowhere he could run
Then a shot rang out and Bobby fell dead at his daddy’s side
Then Casey took one last life
on the Mulenberg county line
People still talk about it like they knew just what went down
And they say there are blood stains that’s never soaked into the ground
It’s a story and a warning that stands the test of time
There’s people you don’t want to cross
on the Mulenberg county line
There’s people you don’t want to cross
on the Mulenberg county line
