Prompt / Lyrics
Swiping through strangers at a quarter past two, Every face starts looking like somebody I knew. Cheap neon promises lighting up the room, Love feels like a rumor everybody else assumes. I learned your name but forgot it by dawn, Another “forever” that already moved on. Taxi rides home with the radio low, Singing about feelings I don’t even know. They say slow down, you’ll find the right one, But patience feels heavier after midnight’s gone. So I drink till the lights blur into gold, Laugh like I’m fearless, act like I’m bold. Kissing strangers just to feel alive, Trying to outrun the lonely inside. If love won’t stay, then I won’t pretend, I’ll dance with the night like it’s my best friend. Another last call, another goodbye, Falling for moments that never survive. Empty apartment, shoes by the door, Perfume and silence spread across the floor. Phone full of numbers I’ll never replay, Conversations fading with the taste of yesterday. Friends getting married, posting their rings, I’m ordering doubles and forgetting things. They talk about soulmates, destiny signs, I’m just counting ice cubes melting in mine. Maybe I’m broken or just running late, Watching forever miss another date. And sometimes at four in the morning light, I swear I almost see you in my mind. Someone who stays when the music ends, Someone who doesn’t disappear again. But the sun comes up and reality wins, Lipstick confessions washed off my sins. So I drink till the world feels kind again, Toast to the lovers I could’ve been. Maybe someday I’ll finally see, Love was just waiting patiently for me. Till then I’ll spin under city lights, Trading forever for temporary nights. Another last call, another goodbye… Still hoping someday love might try. 🎶
