In every dark moment, when the night has no end,
When my strength has abandoned me, and I can’t stand again,
I lift up my eyes to an old rugged tree,
Where a Savior once suffered to set a sinner free.
It’s not made of silver,
It’s not covered in gold,
It’s stained with the blood
That redeemed my soul.
When I see the cross, I see hope.
When I see the blood, I know I’m not alone.
That ugly blood-stained cross the world turned away,
Became the place where my chains were washed away.
In every dark valley, Your light breaks through the loss.
I don’t see defeat…
I see hope in the cross.
The nails tell a story of mercy and grace,
Every scar reminds me You stood in my place.
What looked like the ending became heaven’s door,
Death couldn’t hold the One my heart adores.
The cross wasn’t pretty,
It was splintered and torn.
It carried my failures,
It carried my shame.
But because of that blood,
I’ll never be the same.
Where the world saw death,
Heaven saw victory.
Where the world saw darkness,
God was setting me free.
When I see the cross, I see hope.
When I see the blood, I see heaven opened wide.
Every crimson stain reminds me of the price You paid,
So I could walk forever in Your marvelous light.
Every dark moment bows before Your love,
Because the blood-stained cross
Still shines brighter than the sun.
So when the night surrounds me,
And fear begins to rise,
I’ll look to that blood-stained cross…
And there I’ll find my life.
There I’ll find my peace.
There I’ll find my hope.
For the cross still speaks… and Christ still lives.
