I wake up with a weight on my chest

Whispers in my ear say, “Forget the rest”

Skip the prayer, skip the light

“Sleep in, you'll be fine tonight”

But every choice I don’t make right

Feeds the dark just out of sight

It's not just silence in my head

It’s a battle cry from the walking dead

And the demons arise, when the truth is denied

When we trade the cross for a selfish lie

They don’t shout, they seduce

Make excuses the noose

And we fall as they tighten the ties

Yeah, the demons arise

I scroll, I spend, I chase the thrill

Filling my soul with things that kill

They say, “Church is just routine”

But that lie’s got blood on the screen

They twist my fear into pride

Till I don’t even know what’s right

But I hear a whisper through the flames

Calling out my sacred name

And the demons arise, when the light is despised

When the heart goes cold and we don’t ask why

They don’t roar, they deceive

Sow the seeds we believe

And they bloom in the garden of lies

But even in the darkest night

I feel the fire of holy light

Chains break when I call His name

Jesus, burn away the shame!

Though the demons arise, I won’t run, I won’t hide

I’ve got armor on and the King by my side

They can scheme, they can sway
