The Porch Light
Verse 1
There’s a coffee cup still on the counter,
Getting colder with the day.
The TV’s on, but no one’s watching,
I don’t hear a word they say.
The world keeps turning out the window,
While mine can barely move.
Some battles never make a sound…
They’re only known by Heaven, too.
I whispered,
“God, are You still with me?”
The silence felt so deep.
But even when I couldn’t hear Him…
He never stopped holding me.
Verse 2
Then I heard tires in the driveway.
A friend walked through my door.
No grand speech.
No easy answers.
Just love upon my floor.
Looking back, I finally see
What I couldn’t understand.
Sometimes God sends angels
Without a pair of wings…
Sometimes He sends a hand.
Chorus
You left the porch light on for me
When I couldn’t find my way.
God was shining through your kindness
Even on my darkest day.
You never asked me to be stronger.
You never said, “You’ll be okay.”
You simply stayed…
And through your presence,
God kept the night at bay.
Verse 3
Now when someone wears a smile
That doesn’t reach their eyes,
I remember all the moments
Love was my disguise.
So I’ll call before it’s urgent.
I’ll knock before it’s late.
Maybe God is asking me
To be the light that waits.
Bridge
If you’re listening tonight,
And you’ve prayed,
“God, where are You?”
He hears every whispered prayer.
He counts every tear.
He has never walked away.
So…
Hold on…
Not because life is easy.
Hold on…
Because the One who conquered death
Is still writing your story.
H.O.P.E.
Hold On. Pain Ends.
The cross reminds us
Friday was not the end.
Sunday was coming.
There’s a Father who still loves you.
A Savior who still calls you.
A Spirit who still walks beside you.
Don’t let tonight
Write the final page.
Hold on…
Morning is closer than you know.
Final Chorus
I’ll leave the porch light on for you
If the road gets hard to see.
And I’ll pray until the sunrise
Brings you back to hope with me.
No, I can’t promise easy answers.
No, I can’t carry all your pain.
But I know the One who carries us
When we cannot stand again.
So if your faith feels like an ember,
Borrow some of mine today.
We’ll keep walking toward the morning…
One more breath.
One more prayer.
One more day.
Outro
Years from now,
I won’t remember every word.
I won’t remember
How long you stayed.
I’ll remember
That God never left.
He was in the quiet.
He was in the prayers.
He was in the friend
Who refused to leave.
There was a light.
There was hope.
H.O.P.E.
Hold On. Pain Ends.
And when I couldn’t see His hands…
I found His heart…
In you.
Thank you…
For being here.
