Prompt / Lyrics
Under the stars on a soft summer night, The meadow was glowing with silver light. The cat tuned up with a fiddle in hand, And music drifted across the land. Hey diddle diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon; The little dog laughed To see such sport, And the dish ran away with the spoon. The cow came down with a big, wide grin, Said, “I think I’ll try that jump again!” The dog rolled over, howling with cheer, It was the funniest thing he’d seen all year. The fiddle played on till the stars grew pale, The cow told the moon her secret tale. The dish spun fast, the spoon spun too, They waltzed away in the morning dew. Some say it’s silly, some say it’s true, But magic lives in the things we do. A laugh, a song, a daring leap, Are the memories we love to keep. Hey diddle diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon; The little dog laughed to see such fun, And the night was over too soon. The stars looked down and winked at the crew, “Dreams are bigger than you ever knew.” And when the morning sun arose, The tale lived on in the song they chose. So dance to the fiddle, sing to the sky, Dreams can take you where cows can fly. Laugh with your friends, let the night be your tune, Where dishes go dancing with silver spoons.
