BLIZZARD

Mama used to call me sunshine

Said I could chase the clouds away

We had a little downtown kingdom

Tiny rooms but love would stay

Daddy worked through every midnight

Dreaming of a brighter view

Then one day the whole sky opened

And every wish we had came true

Big white house and shining windows

Golden laughter down the hall

Summer lived inside our hearts then

We never thought we'd lose it all

Then Heaven called my mama home

And the seasons started changing

Now there's a blizzard in the living room

Snow falling where the flowers bloomed

Every word she says cuts through me

Like frozen rain beneath the moon

I keep reaching for the sunlight

But the daylight disappears too soon

Two warm sparks trying to find each other

She arrived like crystal beauty

Perfect smile and icy eyes

Every room became a winter

Hidden underneath the white

I tried hard to melt the distance

Tried to make her love me too

But her anger came in cold fronts

Turning every sky to blue

Daddy drifted deeper into it
