Oh the memories we share
Back in Granddaddy's yard
And across the alley with you
Times were so simple
Way back in that day
There always was fun stuff to do
We'd come for a visit
With Nanny and Granddad
We hugged them
Then snuck out the back
To laugh and to play
And have a good time
With all of you Elsheimer pack
Remember visiting Mr. Mel's,
playing tag,
And in that wagon you'd
Pull us around?
Oh the memories I share
with my cherished friend Gail
When the Buckner kids
All came to town.
Years later with kids
And grandchildren too
Once again God made us friends
This time to serve, to love and to sing
To be there through thick
And through thin
Oh how I hope when we
Both get to Heaven
And live in our mansions
Of gold
That Gail Elsheimer Norton
lives just across the alley
Where we'll sit and tell stories of old.
Oh the memories we share
Back in Granddaddy's yard.
