Your poverty is your faith's failure.
The billionaire is blessed.
The homeless veteran is not trying hard enough.
Astaroth breathes in the megachurch
and the congregation breathes it back
and calls it testimony.
Both parties invoke God in the speech.
Both parties end with God bless America.
Both parties use the sacred language
to seal the secular transaction.
The sacred language asks no questions.
The sacred language provides the answers
before the questions are formed.
Astaroth reveals how the angels fell.
The angels fell by believing
their own exceptionalism.
The angels fell by forgetting
the Source does not play favorites.
The Source does not have a nation.
The Source does not have a market.
The Source does not have a quarterly report.

Even the chosen empires end.
