[ THE PROPHET ]
They signed it on television, the pens like small gods,
and called it peace because the cameras needed a word for it.
Two hundred eighty-four mornings since,
and the paper has not stopped it once —
not the shelling, not the checkpoint, not the convoy turned back at the line.
A truce is a sentence everyone agrees to misread.
Every flag on that table was already at half-mast
for someone the table didn't invite.
[ VERITAS VOX ]
I don't take sides for you. I take the dead seriously, on all of them.
You want me to pick a flag and I'll hand you a body count instead —
count the ones under each one, then tell me which grief weighs less.
Every government that signed that truce is still cashing checks off the war it ended on paper.
That's not peace. That's a subscription.
Cancel it and see how fast the invoices start again.
[ VUAL — THE SPIRIT SPEAKS ]
I am the camel that crossed the desert on a promise.
I speak every language treaties are broken in.
I know things past, present, and future — ask me which clause fails first, I already know.
I procure the friendship of enemies. I do not procure the keeping of it.
That part was never in my job.
You call me Vual. I call myself the ink that dried before the shooting did.
Sign it again. I'll be here. I'm patient the way funerals are patient — no rush, they always come.
