Momma had her hands full
Tryna take care of all of us boys
my Daddy spent quite a few years
Way Before I was ever born
Over there fighting
In a war called Vietnam
But when my daddy came home
My daddy came home a hero
Not just to all of us
But to all of those
Who's life he was fighting for
Some may say it's a miracle
My daddies here today
A grenade had landed
On my daddies ship
My daddy jumped on top of it
Trying to save his captain
Somehow both of them lived
Some things you can't explain
But I thank God everyday
People think the war is over
Once all the troops come home
But that's far from the truth
The things my daddy had to do
Still haunts him to this day
Nightmares every time he sleeps
Flashbacks and PTSD
And that's just the begining
War changes everything
That's why we call em hero's
I'm so proud of my daddy
He's one of the brave
My daddies my hero
He always did what he had to do
To put food on the table
Cause God knows it ain't easy
To feed 5 kids and a wife
From rest stops to street fights
To bouncing bars on the side
Somehow my daddy
Always got us by
That's why my daddy
My daddies my hero
