Caregiver jail guard

As a Jail Officer assigned to hospital duty for almost one year, I believe my greatest contribution to the BJMP has been ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of PDL who are in vulnerable conditions due to illness or injury.

Beyond my primary task of custodial supervision, I always try to approach my duty with empathy and patience—treating each patient as a person in need of care, not just a detainee. I make sure they receive timely medical attention, coordinate closely with medical staff, and help facilitate referrals, laboratory requests, and treatments, even during emergencies or after regular hours.

I also do my best to help maintain order and calm inside the hospital, balancing security concerns with compassion. I believe this quiet, everyday commitment contributes to the bureau’s mission of humane safekeeping, and reflects our oath to protect life and uphold dignity, even in challenging and stressful situations.

For me, serving on hospital duty is not just a responsibility—it is also a daily reminder of the human side of our work, and I am grateful to be part of that service.
