The Blur

I’m cold and alone,

Streetlights flicker like broken bones.

Shadows stretch, they know my name,

But silence plays the cruelest game.

Every step, I hear it twice,

Breath on my neck, a roll of dice.

He’s just a blur, but I can feel,

The way he waits, the way it’s real.

The masked guy’s there, hiding in the night,

A phantom shape just beyond my sight.

I can’t see his face, but I know he’s near,

Cold as the pavement, sharp as fear.

Glass in puddles, a shattered sky,

I trace the echoes, but they don’t reply.

I want to scream, but the sound won’t rise,

Just me and the blur with the endless eyes.

Every turn, he’s there again,

Closer now, beneath my skin.

I reach for light, but it slips away,

And he follows me into the grey.

The masked guy’s there, hiding in the night,

A phantom shape just beyond my sight.

I can’t see his face, but I know he’s near,

Cold as the pavement, sharp as fear.

Is he my shadow, or am I his?

The line is gone, I don’t know what this is.

A faceless ghost, a breath I can’t escape,

The blur of a nightmare I can’t unmake.

The masked guy’s there, I can feel his stare,

Every street I run, he’s already there.

No voice, no name, just the weight of dread,

The blur walks with me in my head.
