The Mask of Shadows

Behind the mirror's call, I hide my pain, I hide it all,

Reflections blur the line between truth and fall.

A mask so dark, like onyx's deep embrace,

Beauty hides the scars I wear upon my face.

Never transparent, always a reflection,

A heavy weight, a boundless projection.

They stare in awe, see only the shine,

Unaware of the silent cry underneath the divine.

If they could see what lies beneath,

The hidden wounds, the silent grief.

Lift the mask, let the darkness fade,

Show the pain that I’ve always betrayed.

Beauty’s a prison, but inside I cry,

Revealed only when I no longer lie.

Suffocating in the shadows I cast,

A beautiful lie, a haunting past.

Could I be free, break the chain,

Or drown in the weight of the darkened rain?

The mask remains, a silent testament,

To the scars and the unspoken sentiment.

Perhaps one day, I’ll shed the shade,

And find the light that’s been delayed.
