Shield of Grace

Walking through the shadows of my past,

Seeking light, hoping it will last.

A prayer in my heart, a whisper in the wind,

Searching for strength to start again.

It was 2016, when he had to leave,

Left a hole so deep, it made me grieve.

In the closet of my soul, I hid my pain,

Drowning sorrows in the drink, trying not to feel the rain.

But then I heard your call, a gentle divine sound,

A shield of grace to lift me off the ground.

You sent angels down, wings a flash of light,

Guiding me through the darkness into the night.

Heavenly Lord, you gave me a shield,

To battle the urges, to refuse to yield.

Blessed with courage in your holy name,

I stand here fighting, shedding my shame.

The monkey on my back, once wild, now tame,

Fading away with each prayer I claim.

I wanted numbness to block the pain,

But your love washed over, cleansed the stain.

Watching me closely, your angels stay near,

Protecting my soul from falling into fear.

Saints of heaven, angels unseen,

Hold me close, keep me clean.

Heavenly Lord, you gave me a shield,

To battle the urges, to refuse to yield.

Blessed with courage in your holy name,

I stand here fighting, shedding my shame.

Purpose on this Earth, why am I here?

To love, to learn, to conquer fear.

Your divine plan, I may not see,

But in your mercy, I believe.

So I thank you Lord, for your endless grace,

For the angels and the shield, for this sacred place.

I'll walk this path with hope anew,

Guided by your love, eternally true.
