Run to Nowhere

I don’t know when I left

Just remember the noise stopping

The engine filled the space

Where I didn’t want to think

I told myself I needed air

Told myself I’d feel different

But the same weight followed me

Like it always does

The road keeps going without reason

I follow it without one too

No plan, no place in mind

Just moving so I don’t sit still

I thought distance meant relief

I thought motion counted as change

But every thought I tried to lose

Found me anyway

Stopping scares me more than running

So I keep going

Even when it doesn’t help

I run to nowhere

I don’t find anything

Nothing waits for me out here

Nothing lets me leave

Every time I try

I don’t know where I’m going

I just don’t want to stay inside

The dark doesn’t feel dramatic

It just feels empty

Like a room with the lights off

That I’ve been in before

No answers come with speed

No clarity arrives

I keep hoping something clicks

But it never does

I thought I’d feel different by now

I thought something would break

Instead it just stays the same
