Backroads of the Summer Night

Crickets sing, fireflies dance in the air

Backroad whisper, 'there's no place else to compare'

Sun's sinking low, paints the sky with fire

Grass smelling sweet, summer's gentle desire

Old dirt road hums beneath my wheels

In this country night, everything’s real

Stars start to peek out, in the velvet sky

Moon’s rising slow, casting a soft glow by

Radio’s hum, a familiar tune

Underneath this warm, bright moon

Hot summer nights on these country backroads

Where whispers of the wind tell stories untold

Sweet breeze blowing through the oak trees’ shadows

Making memories, letting go
