“Better Me, Better You”

I ain’t always been the mama I wanted to be,

I’ve made some wrong turns, lost pieces of me.

Life got hard and I carried that weight,

Sometimes I was hurting when I should’ve been brave.

But then I looked into my daughters’ eyes,

And saw little pieces of my own life.

You don’t know it, but you saved me too,

Every day I’m learning something new from you.

So help me be a better person,

I’ll help you be a better you.

I’ll show you what I’ve learned from life,

And I’ll learn from the things you do.

When I get lost, remind me who I am,

When you get scared, I’ll hold your hand.

We don’t have to have it all figured out,

We’ll find our way together somehow.

I’ll become the woman I know I can be,

If you’ll keep growing right here with me.

Help me be a better person,

I want you to know you don’t have to be perfect,

You don’t have to hide when you’re hurting.

Don’t give your heart to somebody

Who don’t know what it’s worth.

Stand tall, baby, even when you’re alone,

Know that your mama will always be home.

I’ll help you find your feet and turn it around.
