Alcohol ghost

Waking up to the same cruel sun,

Swearing today, oh today will be the one.

Drowning in shadows of last night’s pain,

Every promise broken, can I break these chains?

Mirror on the wall, show me the truth,

A reflection of the dreams I’m trying to lose.

Craving those memories that linger and fall,

But the ghost of alcohol just whispers, ‘Not at all.’

I hear the voices and I beckon and plead,

"What’s one more drink? Just let it feed."

The demon inside me, it’s a battle I’ll have to face.

Can I win this war or just lose my place?

Alcohol ghost , why won’t you let go?

A nightly version of sorrow in every single low.

You whisper sweet nothings, drag me down again,

Alcohol ghost says,

Boy, you know I’ll always win!"

I scream at the night, and down deep, I’m yearning for peace,

With every sip, it feels like sweet release.

But your evil laughter echoes like thunder in my brain,

Will I ever become untangled, oh, it drives me insane.

Alcohol ghost , why won’t you let go?
