Prompt / Lyrics
(Verse 1) The snow fell soft and deep and wide, they said it looks so pure! The weatherman then turned and lied, "Just dusting the front door!" I grabbed my shovel, big and bold, prepared to play the hero, My back is now a story told of muscles reaching zero. I heave the mound, I push and groan, I try to clear the path, But every pass just leaves a zone that triggers Nature's wrath. I finally get the driveway free, I think my chore is done, Then I turn 'round and suddenly... I'm trapped behind the sun- Wait, no, I mean the giant pile I stacked up on the lawn! I'm barricaded for a while, until the early dawn. (Chorus) Oh, you've got to be chillin' me! The air is minus three! My nose is running like a tap, I cannot feel my knee. We sing of sunshine and of blooms, of warm and gentle rains, But where's the ode to icy rooms and frozen windowpanes? This crystal white, this winter blight, I'm really trying to be cheery, But you've got to be chillin' me! (Shouted) I'm shivering, my dearie! (Verse 2) Let's build a snow man, tall and grand, with carrot, hat, and sticks! Let's make a fortress, close at hand, and practice winter tricks! We tumble in the fluffy drifts, we stage a mighty war, The snowball fight's a lovely gift, until you hit the floor. My mittens failed me hours ago, my socks are soaking wet, I can't tell which is finger, toe, I'm making no regret— No, wait, I DO regret! The pain! A pulsing, awful beat! My little digits are insane, they've turned a mottled blue-beet! My face is raw, my lips are cracked, I think I've lost my sense, I really must get quickly packed, before I lose my pence! (Shouts) I'm shivering, my dearie! (Verse 3) I bought the gear, I waxed the boards, the mountain seemed so near! I watched the brave and mighty hordes, dismissing all my fear. I rode the lift way up the ridge, a gorgeous, frozen view, I took one run beneath the bridge— And then decided I was through. I came to conquer powder trails, to carve the steepest slope, Instead, I heard my body wails, and gave up all my hope. Now I am cozy, wrapped up tight, by yonder fireplace blaze, Sipping cocoa, what a sight, in pure, reflective haze. My boots are off, my muscles slack, I don't care if it's grand, The fire's warmth has got my back, this is the Promised Land! (Outro) Forget the drifts, forget the ice, forget the frozen car! The winter joy is this one slice, no matter where you are. So grab your blanket, sip your brew, forget the great outdoors! The real fun thing you've got to do... is hibernate indoors! Yeah, you've got to be chillin' me! (Shouts) Pass the marshmallows, please!
