Cruising the strip with the windows down and no particular place to go

My sunglasses on and Pour Some Sugar on Me blasting from the stereo

It’s a typical Saturday night in a small town and there’s not a lot to do

So you try and chase down an aqua net babe and take her cruisin’ too

A scrunchie in her hair with neon jellies and a swatch watch on her wrist

They flirt with the boys like we have a chance they might put us on their list

Blue eyeliner with leather and lace and dressing up like they’re Madonna

They blow off the boys that try too hard even though they really don’t wanna’

Living life in the 80’s was such a blast

But the time went by way too fast

Hanging at the mall was the place to be

Laughing with your friends and living free

Dressing like Crockett or the latest fad

The music was great and the movies were too

Even the TV was tubular but the channels were few

Neon colors, arcades, Rubiks Cubes and shoulder pads

Leg warmers, Sony Walkman, valley girls were totally rad

Big hair, slap bracelets, rat tails and value meals super sized

M TV, cabbage patch, Boom boxes and moms at aerobisize

Dirty Dancing at the sleepover, her friends drooling over Patrick Swayze

She thinks he’s ok but she likes Rob Lowe and everyone tells her that she’s crazy

She’s hanging posters on her wall of George Michael, Prince and Duran Duran

She’s writing a letter to Johnny Depp to tell him she’s his biggest fan

Sitting by the radio for hours and just hoping to record my favorite song

Wishing the DJ would just shut up because his talking makes it sound wrong

Gotta make an awesome mix tape for the date with my girl next Friday night

Hopefully the night will end with a kiss if the music hits her just right
