You got rid of the toxic person.
But did you actually get rid of what they left behind?
Because this is something people don’t talk about enough.
You can block somebody.
Stop answering their calls.
Undo the follow.
Delete the messages.
Move their name out of your phone.
But the body remembers the way it learned to brace.
The mind remembers checking every sentence
before it leaves your mouth.
The quiet can still feel like a trap
when chaos was all you knew.
So if you still expect the apology,
if you still flinch at a notification,
if you still explain yourself to an empty room,
that does not mean you want them back.
It means something was left behind.
And healing is not only removing their access.
It is taking back the parts of you
that learned to disappear to stay safe.
You are allowed to unlearn the fear.
You are allowed to trust your own memory.
You are allowed to build a life
where peace does not need permission.
The person is gone.
Now, slowly,
let their imprint leave too.
