Defining your Dream
Coming up poor, I learned that nobody is going to give you anything, not even your family or Friends far removed, sister or Brother. At fifteen I decided I was never going to be destitute, maybe poor and getting by, but never looked for a hand out. Same year I started working my mother advised me. Whatever job you do, do the best possible job you can do. Always go the extra mile, work harder than your coworkers. Time to downsize you will be working, they won't. Twenty five years ago I decided to write a book, today 7 published and 7 more to come, and all these wicked lyrics I am throwing at you. All started with the dream of being a writer.
(Beat drops, smooth west coast vibe, bass heavy, piano keys floating)
Yeah…
Listen…
Ayo…
Dreams ain’t just smoke in the sky, nah, they the blueprint,
They the engine in your chest when the fuel feel spent.
You gotta stop, breathe deep, and decide what you want,
Not the noise from the world, but the truth from the font.
See, defining your dreams, it’s the first cornerstone,
That map you write in blood, that you call your own.
Not a fantasy, nah, it’s a fire inside,
It’s the compass on the block when the lights collide.
Look—passions and interests, they the seeds you sow,
The late nights, the grind, where your heartbeat go.
Ask yourself: “What excites me? What makes time disappear?”
That’s the vision talkin’ loud in your soul, crystal clear.
’Cause a dream that’s aligned with your spirit and core,
It’ll carry you through storms when you broken and sore.
It’ll pull you off the floor when you tired and drained,
It’s the purpose in your hustle, the joy in the pain.
(Chorus – Melodic, west coast bounce)
Define your dreams, don’t let the world define you,
See the vision, paint it vivid, let the hunger guide you.
Write it down, live it out, let your purpose shine through,
Dreams ain’t just dreams, they the life inside you.
(Verse 2)
I came from nights with no lights, ramen packs for a meal,
Still I dreamed of a stage, where the crowd I could feel.
Not the fame, not the flash, but the message I’d give,
That your dream ain’t a wish—it’s the reason you live.
But you gotta sit still, cut the chatter and noise,
Ask yourself, “What’s my lane? What’s my weapon, my voice?”
Don’t chase trends, that’s a trap, they fade and they die,
But a purpose-built dream? Man, that’ll never run dry.
Define it, refine it, then commit to the grind,
Every setback, every loss, is just sharpenin’ your mind.
When you tired, when you broke, when the nights feel long,
It’s that dream in your chest that keep pushin’ you strong.
So reflect, write it down, visualize it each day,
See yourself where you wanna be, livin’ that way.
From the block to the boardroom, the mic to the pen,
If you define your dream clear, the work gon’ win.
(Chorus – repeat, more intensity)
Define your dreams, don’t let the world define you,
See the vision, paint it vivid, let the hunger guide you.
Write it down, live it out, let your purpose shine
