The swift glance of you

True flesh and bone I swear

A waking dream and you were there

Something, someone I was wanting to be true

The world knows how much I miss you

Just how much I want to bring you back through

It’s a pain, so much worse than the rain

One day at the shoreline

Could change so, so much

One rouge wave we misjudged

I couldn’t provide you a lifeline

And you were gone quickly out of sight

Lost to the vast blue sea, my life and my light

The ghost in you, not necessarily haunting

Tonight’s host is blue, my day to day is daunting

This morning I was out and about

I could’ve, I could’ve sworn I saw you

Eyes, senses, and touch upon you

With the brightest belief of the religious and the devout

But you know it wasn’t you, I couldn’t hold onto you

The big sea owns you, doesn’t it, your ghost I view from this pew

It’s a sorrow, some shred of sunlight I could never borrow

Someone who looks just like you from the side

A memory, something I want it to be

Let the flood of remembrance wash away the dirt of misery

But never the tender flower I hold deep inside

The Earth she knows just how much I’m hurting

What can I do as the universe goes on turning and turning and turning
