We Outgrew It…

We used to talk till the night ran out

Now it’s quiet in a different way

Same house, same side of the bed

But something slowly slipped away

Life got full, we filled it up

Days got faster, nights got short

Somewhere in the middle of it all

We stopped reaching like before

No big fight, no line crossed

Just a space we never caught

We didn’t break… we just let go

No need to turn this into something we’re not

We didn’t lose it… we outgrew it

Still good… just not what we’ve got

There’s a life we built that still stands strong

More than just you and me

And the best of everything we ever were

Is right there in between

We did it right, we did it real

Gave more than we took

Nothing here is falling apart

Just a different road we took

We both felt it, didn’t say

But we saw it on each other’s face

We didn’t break… we just let go

Even if it’s deeper than it shows

We didn’t lose it… we outgrew it

And that don’t mean it didn’t mean everything then

There’s a look I still remember

Like the first time we knew

Letting go of something like that

Ain’t something you just undo

And yeah, it’s not easy saying it out loud

But holding on to what we were

Would only break us down

We didn’t break… we just let go

And somehow we both got stronger

We didn’t lose it… we outgrew it

And we carried the best parts with us

Still respect, still care, still real

Just a different kind of now

We both found what fits us better

And I stand by where we are now
