That Friday Night

Friday night out with the boys,

Neon buzzed like all of us,

Laughs were loud, stories tall,

Pool cues cracking against the wall.

Then the door swung wide,

And my heart took a ride.

When she walked in, time stood still,

I swear the jukebox lost its will.

Her smile lit up that dim-lit place,

I forgot my name, just stared at her face.

But I took a chance, and asked her to dance,

My world changed when she said yes.

She had her friends, a lively crew,

But her green eyes only caught my view.

I fumbled words like a nervous kid,

Spilled my beer, oh Lord, I did.
