Well, my daddy drove a Chevy, and his daddy did the same

Said they were built to last, boys, part of the family name

But I watched 'em rust and rattle, leave him stranded by the road

Guess some traditions ain't worth nothin', a heavy, weary load

My truck, it's a Ford, built tough, a real workhorse

But I saw him at the hardware store, lookin' kinda glum

Said the engine coughed and died, now he's walkin' home to Mom
