Shadows of a Cowboy

Whispered tales in the dust, stories spun like olden lore

A cowboy's shadow stretches, restless on the desert floor

Leather boots that mark the miles, worn and weathered face

Chasing ghosts in the setting sun, trying to find his place

With a heart as wild as the wind, chasing after starlit dreams

But somewhere along the trail, nothing's ever what it seems

He rides alone through the night, haunted by what he's got to lose

Every promise like a ghost, every vow a rickety choose

I wish you wouldn’t have been such a whore of a cowboy

Lost in the wilderness, broken by the ploy

Running from your shadows, hiding from your pain

Wishing you’d come back, find yourself again

Beneath the spurs and the hat, a restless soul confined

A man of many faces, but no peace to find

Moments of salvation drown in whiskey and regret

He’s searching for redemption he might never get

He rides alone through the night, haunted by what he's got to lose
