[Verse 1] In a worn down crumbling shack where winter winds do bite..
Lives a boy with hunger pains and a heart full of spite
He hates Christmas, the cheer, the songs, the lights.
Cause all he feels is emptiness, anger, and aching nights.
No presents, no tree, just thin clothes and worn out shoes. His parents work odd jobs , bills stacked high, past over due. Foods a luxury, a treat they rarely know. And the weight of wants presses down, like a weight that refuses to go
[Chorus] but then he hears a story, of a love divine... Jesus' gifts of kindness, a changed heart to shine. The lil boy goes to his knees and begins to pray, he feels the spirit of God and his hatred goes away.
[ Verse 2] he walks to school in snow, with holes in his coat, no lunch in his bag, just a hallow, sore throat. He sees friends with gifts, with smiles so bright, he wonders why they're blessed, and he's left with cold nights. His parents faces, worn thin with worry lines, they apologize for having less, with love that barely shines. The boy feels anger, a fire that burns, and hides, a resentment towards a Christmas that doesn't care if he survives!!!
[Chorus] but then he hears a story, of love divine. Jesus' gifts of kindness, a changed heart to shine. The lil boy goes to his knees and begins to pray, he feels the spirit of God and his hatred goes away.
[Bridge] one night a church door opens, a beacon in the cold, a stranger offers a hand and a story the boy's never been told. He speaks of Jesus, a love that gives all away. our savior born in a manger, in a poorer place than his today. The boy's hard exterior starts to softly crack, he feels tears fall as he takes the stranger's hand back.
[Verse 3] he learns of a love that's not of things but of heart. A gift so free, it breaks the chains of every sinners heart. He sees his parents trying, loving through all the pain. And in their struggles , a love that echoes jesus' name. The emptyness remains but now with a glimmer too. A hope that in the darkness, love is still made true.
[Outro] his mom sits close, in the fading light .. son, christmas isn't about gifts, she' says with a gentle sight... it's about the love of Christ, that gives without a cost.. the boy looks up, his eyes now soft. Momma, I get it now, he whispers with a grin. The true meaning of Christmas...... is love within!!!!!! The true meaning of Christmas.... is love within
