Kintsugi Heart

Hairline fractures marked the white

Beneath the surface of my skin

I kept the breaking out of sight

And held the trembling deep within

I grew weary holding on

To every fractured, trembling part

With the waking of the dawn

I released the grip on my heart

As the freedom touched my soul,

The light ran softly through the cracks.

It fused the seams into a whole,

Like gold along forgotten tracks.

I reveal to you my kintsugi heart.

Now strong as steel, precious as gold.

I claim the sealing of these parts,

No longer fearing what they hold.

I walk my path, speak my truth

Gold remembers where I’ve been.

Every line became the proof

Of all the ways the light got in.

I do not hide the fault lines now

They shimmer when they catch the sun

The wounds I once could not allow

Became the map of who I’ve become

And the light no longer hides

In the spaces marked by pain
