Written on Stone
Verse 1
Our love is written on our hearts,
And it’s deeper than the sea.
The Bible says He’ll take the stone,
And change the way we feel.
He promised He’d replace the cold,
Heart And give us hearts of flesh to behold,
But standing here, I’m feeling every bit of that weight...
Chorus
'Cause I’m reading what’s written on that stone in the field,
Tracing lines on a cold piece of stone.
Sweetheart, the date you were born,
Is the day I’ll keep 'til the world gets torn.
It was a good day for the world,
And it was a damn good day for me.
Verse 2
Our hearts stayed tender through the trials of life,
We kept Jesus at the center, through the peace and the strife.
I look down and see the words carved out so blue,
It says "Beloved Wife," and Lord, it’s so true.
We walked through the fire, but we never walked alone,
Now your name is in Glory, and it’s etched in this stone.
Verse 3
Beneath your name, I see the title of Mother,
A light to our children like there’ll never be another.
You taught 'em what’s right, gave 'em faith in the Lord,
The kind of foundation that a soul can afford.
Now the five of us wait 'til the roll call is plain,
To meet you in Glory and be whole once again.
Verse 4
I’ll miss you every second 'til we meet in His light,
But I’m kneeling here beside you in the cool of the night.
Just sharing my heart through the grass and the dew,
So thankful for the time that He gave me with you.
I’ll see you again when the shadows are flown,
But for now, I’ll just leave my love on this tomb stone
