When I was in Hawaii,
I saw a little boy almost get hit by a van.
It was a shuttle from the airport.
I don’t know what happened after that.
When I was in Puerto Rico,
I got a fried snapper off the beach.
Some people there cooked it up for me,
then laughed ’cause I forgot how to say strawberry.
That strawberry mojito had six shots in it.
I drank that shit anyway.
God, I love Puerto Rico.
I think about it every day.
When I was in Colombia,
at the port of Cartagena,
a taxi driver tried to scam me.
I said, “No. I’m Black and American.”
When I was in Aruba,
I tried to get on a catamaran.
I got seasick and had to get off,
before we even got too far from land.
But when I was still in Aruba,
I found the strength somehow
to take a bunch of pictures for Instagram.
You couldn’t tell I was sick by looking now.
When I was in Miami,
the bugs started eating me.
My mama got the calamine
and rubbed that shit all over me.
When I was in Curaçao,
a boy stopped me on the beach.
I had on a blue bikini.
He worked at the resort, I think.
I was only there at the port.
He followed me on Instagram.
That’s it.
Nothing else happened.
When I took a trip by myself,
I had a layover in Philly.
My luggage disintegrated,
so I had to go downtown in the city.
And when I went downtown in Philly,
early as hell in the morning,
that’s the day I learned the crackheads in Philly
come out early in the morning.
