Paralyzed on the Dark

Eyes are open, but I can’t breathe,

I’m screaming silent underneath.

Pinned to the bed like gravity’s curse,

Heartbeat pounding, but I can’t reverse.

Shadows crawl across the ceiling,

I swear I feel them, I swear they’re breathing.

Mind is racing, limbs won’t start,

I’m wide awake but locked in the dark.

Paralyzed in the dark,

Can’t cry out, can’t leave a mark.

Frozen still, stuck in between

The edge of sleep and a waking dream.

I see it move, I feel the fear,

But no one knows I’m trapped in here.

Paralyzed…

And no one hears.

The room looks real, but something’s wrong,

A nightmare world where I don’t belong.

Weight on my chest, breath running thin,

Fighting a battle I can’t win.

Is it a ghost or just my mind?

Either way, I’m out of time.

Wish I could wake, wish I could scream,

But I’m just drowning in this dream.

Paralyzed in the dark,

Can’t cry out, can’t leave a mark.

Caught in the grip of a twisted dream.

I beg for light, I pray for air,

But the shadows hold me unaware.

Paralyzed…

Still right there.

Eyes wide open…

But no escape…

Still awake…

Still… paralyzed.
