"One Day I Must Be Successful"
[Intro - Spoken]
Yeah...
They laughed. They doubted.
They said "wait your turn."
But I heard a voice inside me saying...
"One day... one day you must be successful."
So let me tell you my story.
[Verse 1]
I woke up in a room with cracks in the ceiling
Counted the coins in my pocket, but they weren’t enough for a meal
Mama said "son, keep your head up, the rain don’t last forever"
Daddy worked two jobs just to make sure we had bread
I walked to school with shoes that had holes in the bottom
Books second-hand, but my dreams were brand new and spotless
Teacher said "aim high" while the world said "be realistic"
But how can I be realistic when my vision is prophetic?
I’ve seen nights where the lights got cut off
Seen pride get swallowed just to ask for a little help
Seen friends get lost to streets, to bottles, to silence
Seen promises break like glass on the sidewalk
But every scar on my back became a map for my future
Every "no" I heard became fuel for the mover
Every door that slammed taught me to build my own entry
Every time I fell down, I learned how to get up empty
[Pre-Chorus]
And I’m tired... tired of almost
Tired of "maybe next time"
Tired of watching other people live the life that’s mine
So I’m writing it down, speaking it out, claiming my time
[Chorus]
One day I must be successful
No matter how long the night gets, I’ll see the morning
One day I must be successful
Every tear I cry now is watering the garden I’m growing
One day I must be successful
I can feel it in my bones, in my blood, in my story
They can keep their doubts, I’m walking in my glory
One day I must be successful
And when I get there, I won’t forget where I started
[Verse 2]
I applied for 40 jobs, got 39 rejections
That 40th one said "we’ll call you" — still waiting on the message
Started a hustle on the side with $20 and a prayer
Sold what I could, learned what I didn’t, stayed up repairing my name
Watched people with less talent get more chances
Watched people with more money buy more answers
But I got something they can’t buy at the store:
Conviction. Vision. And a reason to want more.
I remember the day my account hit zero
And I still tipped the bus driver because "what if that’s me tomorrow?"
I remember eating noodles 6 nights straight
And still sharing half with my brother because "we eat together or we wait"
I remember writing goals on the back of old receipts
Saying them out loud so the universe could hear me
"Own a home. Help my mom retire. Build a school. Hire my people.
Be the answer to the prayer that my grandma keeps repeating."
[Pre-Chorus]
And I’m done... done with settling
Done with small thinking
If God gave me this fire, then He expects me to be winning
So I’m grinding in silence, letting the results do the talking
[Chorus]
One day I must be successful
No matter how long the night gets, I’ll see the morning
One day I must be successful
Every door that’s closed is just redirecting me forward
One day I must be success
