Jesus took my place

I was lost, in darkness and shame

My sins weighed heavy, like a burden to claim

But then I heard, of a love so true

Jesus took my place, and saw me through

Jesus took my place, on the cross so high

He bore the weight, of my sin and my cry

He died in my stead, to set me free

Jesus took my place, and gave me eternity

I was blind, to the love that was mine

But Jesus' sacrifice, opened my eyes to the divine

He took the punishment, that I deserved to pay

And gave me new life, in a brighter way

Jesus took my place, on the cross so high

Jesus took my place, and gave me eternity

Now I'm forgiven, and I'm free to live

With a heart full of gratitude, and a soul that can give

I'll follow Jesus, all the way

And give Him praise, for the price He paid
