When we used to play you kept me from scraping my knees. You made sure I always had what I needed. You are my first friend. You would even play, hide and seek with me. You were the only one who would encourage and praise me. You told me, "That's just what big brothers do."
You were always there when i needed you. You never let me get lost. You never let me forget my dreams. You took the time to teach me about life. And what it would take to get through tough times. You could always chase the darkness away, by being the light I needed.
You said, "That's just what big brothers do."
As I grew, you taught me how to think things through. We laughed. We cried. We shared everything, night or day. We even created our own great memories. You were more to me than just my first friend. More than just my sibling,. You were my best friend.
That's why I don't understand why, you had to go so soon.
Why couldn't it have been me?
You turned and looked at me, and told me, "Please little sister have no fear, Don't weep for me. This isn't forever, I promise you. You'll never be alone. I know you'll never forget me. I'll never be far, just look to your heart. That's where you'll always find me."
"I gotta go now, I have a place to prepare, for the day my sister gets there."
He smiled one last time, and before turning away, I could hear him say,
"it's just what big brothers do."

Now it's up to me, to remember what you gave me.
