Another Way

Kings raised towers to scrape the sky

Stamped their names where the nations cried

Rome had eagles, Babylon gold

Genghis rode with a heart so cold

Power, glory, iron and flame

Every empire swore its name

But dust rolls over every throne

The mighty fall and die alone

Man keeps reaching for the crown

Building kingdoms tumbling down

But God don’t move the way men do

He broke the world with mercy true

Not by conquest, not by sword

But a servant bearing love of the Lord

Another way, another reign

Through sacrifice instead of gain

What men call weakness heaven calls strength

Love goes farther than power’s length

If man ruled heaven, would princes rise

Born in palaces before men’s eyes?

Would a king step down to feed the poor

Touch the sick at a beggar’s door?

Would he walk with those the proud despise

Give the blind and broken life to rise?

Would he die for those who cursed his name?

No earthly ruler plays that game

All the gold men kill to hold

Cannot warm a grave grown cold

But God don’t move the way men do

Trading souls for a higher seat

But the greatest washed another’s feet

Walked in mercy through every street

He said the first shall be the last

He lifts the low and makes things new

A kingdom built on making new

Not by fear and not by might

But laying darkness down with light

What men call loss is heaven’s prize

Through surrender souls can rise

But love leads on to endless peace
