“The Weight of the World”
by Robert Ramage
---
Intro (Strong, commanding, universal)
Look around—
every corner of every city holds someone fighting a battle you can’t see.
The cost of living climbs while wages crawl,
dreams shrink, hearts grow tired,
and people fall into holes they never meant to dig.
Not because they’re weak—
but because the world keeps pressing harder,
faster,
without stopping to ask who’s being crushed.
And still… every day…
they keep moving forward.
---
Verse 1
She’s standing in line with a worn-out stare,
Another bill due, another burden to bear.
Working two jobs just to stay alive,
Praying this month she can somehow survive—
That’s the fight so many face.
Verse 2
He’s scrolling through lives that look better than his,
Wondering where he lost the meaning of “bliss.”
Not chasing trouble, just a little relief,
But desperation grows in the cracks of belief—
This is how hope fades thin.
Verse 3
Pawn shops filled with things that once meant love,
Memories traded for the push to rise above.
People selling pieces of the life they planned,
Trying to grasp what’s slipping out of their hands—
And nobody planned for this.
Verse 4
Taxes rise higher, rent breaks the roof,
The future feels distant, cold, and aloof.
Homeownership a dream only wealth understands,
While the working class fights just to stand—
This is the truth of the land.
---
Chorus
We are the ones carrying the weight of the world,
Holding the line while the pressure unfurls.
Fighting through storms we never deserved,
Lifting each other when hope is disturbed.
Still we rise, still we stand—
With the weight of the world
in our trembling hands.
---
Bridge
They said the rich would rise, the poor would fall—
Now the warning echoes through us all.
But the human spirit won’t disappear,
It breaks, it bends, but it stays right here.
In every struggle, in every demand—
We find our strength, we hold our ground,
We reclaim our land.
---
Outro (Uplifting, resonant)
Here’s to the tired who still push through,
To the unheard voices that finally break through.
May the burden grow lighter, the road become clear,
May tomorrow bring answers we’ve waited to hear.
And no matter how heavy this world may stand—
We will rise together,
hand in hand.
