Jakey came knockin’ at a quarter to two
Wearing them red heels and that “what we gon’ do?”
She smelled like trouble and cinnamon smoke
Said, “One little sip, baby — just one little toke”
Next thing I know, we’re dancin’ on the bar
She’s winking at the bouncer, I’m callin’ her a star
And them beers? Just laughin’ in a line
Sayin’ “You’re back in the game, son — one more time”
It’s a love-hate thing with ol’ Jakey and me
She’s fire on my lips and a storm in my sheets
She wrecks all my plans and blames it on beer
And whispers “I love ya” right outta my ear
We kiss, we fight, we burn through the night
Me, Jakey, and the beers — Lord, we ain’t ever right
She walked in like a hurricane
Said, “I swear this time, I’m gonna change”
But the second that she smiled, it’s all on again
Back to the whiskey and that ol’ same sin
Now the lights come on and the bar shuts down
I’m holdin’ her heels while she spins around
Says, “Let’s run away, just you and me”
But I know damn well she’ll ghost by three
It’s a love-hate thing with ol’ Jakey and me
She’s wild as the wind and twice as free
She wrecks all my plans and blames it on beer
And whispers “I love ya” right outta my ear
We kiss, we fight, we burn through the night
Me, Jakey, and the beers — Lord, we ain’t ever right
