STILL RIDING
I had a good home…
A mother. A father.
A brother I loved.
Rules I couldn’t stand.
At sixteen…
I walked away from everything
I should’ve been holding onto.
And I spent the next part of my life
trying to outrun myself.
[Guitar crashes in]
⸻
[VERSE 1]
Sixteen years old with a fire in my chest,
Good family behind me but I wanted the rest.
Couldn’t take direction, couldn’t follow the line,
Thought everybody else’s rules were wasting my time.
I left that house with a head full of smoke,
Didn’t know I was cutting the last good rope.
Started chasing things that could bury a man,
Heroin, meth, whiskey, whatever I could get in my hands.
I learned how fast a good kid can disappear,
How a little bad road can turn into years.
Every morning started with another excuse,
Every night ended somewhere closer to the noose.
⸻
[PRE-CHORUS]
I wasn’t looking for heaven,
I was daring hell to try me.
Every scar I collected
was another reason not to cry.
⸻
[HOOK / CHORUS]
I STILL RIDE… I STILL RIDE…
With the ghosts of the old me screaming by my side.
I STILL RIDE… I STILL RIDE…
But I ain’t the same man that I was back then in the fight.
I’ve been locked behind steel,
I’ve been face-down in the dirt,
I’ve been high enough to fly
and low enough to hurt.
I STILL RIDE… I STILL RIDE…
But now I’ve got a reason to make it home tonight.
⸻
[VERSE 2]
Motorcycle thunder was the language I knew,
Chrome in the sunlight, blacktop underneath my boots.
Bars after dark, fists after one,
Somebody looked wrong and the fighting begun.
I wore anger like armor,
Kept my heart locked tight,
If you got too close,
I was ready to fight.
I had brothers on bikes,
I had enemies in bars,
I had bottles on tables
and trouble in the cars.
Then came another prison,
another set of steel doors,
Another cold room asking
what the hell I was fighting for.
I had plenty of people telling me I was wrong,
But I was too damn stubborn to listen for long.
So I went right back out
and picked up the same old flame,
Drugs, women, whiskey, violence,
and a heart full of shame.
⸻
[PRE-CHORUS]
I kept saying,
“I can stop whenever I want.”
But every time I tried,
that lie pulled me back into the dark.
⸻
[HOOK / CHORUS]
I STILL RIDE… I STILL RIDE…
With the ghosts of the old me screaming by my side.
I STILL RIDE… I STILL RIDE…
But I ain’t the same man that I was back then in the fight.
I’ve been locked behind steel,
I’ve been face-down
