Senior year, back road rollin’
Four-speed grip, big block groanin’
’67 Chevelle, SS badge
402 truck heart under that hood I had
Traded up from a ‘68 Camaro
Bugged that dude like a mosquito
Finally got it, thought I won
Didn’t know I’d wreck it before lunch
Pulled up slow to that stop sign
Stalled it out, clutch too high
Guard said “don’t spin them tires”
I said “watch this—real fire”
Laid it down for a thousand feet
Burnin’ rubber uphill street
Felt like king till the knock came in…
Yeah that’s where it all begins
Called my uncle, he lost his mind
Said “leave them keys, I’ll fix your ride”
Thought I was done, thought I got played…
Didn’t know what he just traded me that day
⸻
It’s that brown ‘59 flatbed Ford
Don’t run like no Ford should
Chevy heart under that hood
Mean, loud, misunderstood
Fuel pump whines, then it roars
Hit the gas, shake the floor
Front tire lift off the road
Yeah that truck got a wild soul
⸻
Walked out lunch, didn’t recognize
Flatbed sittin’ where my Chevelle died
Plate said “my other car’s trash too”
I said “oh hell… what did I do?”
Keys on visor, note fell down
“Flip that switch, don’t mess around”
Pump kicks on, hit gas twice
That motor woke up mean as night
Popped the hood—350 inside
Chrome and cam, built to fight
Zero to eighty in a blink
After that… don’t overthink
⸻
It’s that brown ‘59 flatbed Ford
Don’t run like no Ford should
Chevy heart under that hood
Mean, loud, misunderstood
Front end jump when it bites
Shakes the street, wakes the night
Laugh all you want, slam that door
I wouldn’t trade it anymore
⸻
Met this girl, blonde, real cool
Thought I had her playin’ it smooth
She said “I don’t like Fords”
I said “good—it ain’t one anymore”
She caught the bus, rolled her eyes
Didn’t know what she passed by
Pulled up next to her at the light
Whole bus heard that motor bite
Green hit—man I let it eat
Front tire lift off the street
Brakes were bad, pump ‘em twice
Next day she said “you can drive”
⸻
That brown ‘59 flatbed Ford
Ain’t just metal, it’s a war
Fuel pump hum, then it screams
Bad ideas on gasoline
You can keep your brand new toys
I’ll take noise over polished noise
Yeah I lost that Chevelle for sure…
But I found myself in a brown ‘59 Ford
