I taught my boy to mind his elders, Shake a hand and look folks in the eye. Love the Lord with all his heart, Tell the truth and never hide.

I taught him not to throw the first punch, Turn away when angry words get loud. And if somebody tells him something That don't square with what's right and true somehow,

I said, "Bring it home to Mama, We'll figure out what's what." Cause respect ain't blind obedience, And some lines you just don't cross.

Y'all think he's weak cause he don't fight back, Cause he walks away instead of raising hell. You see kindness and mistake it for surrender, But there's a side of this story you can't tell.

He's my cub and he's been patient, Letting you push him around. But Mama Bear is coming, And I'm fixing to stand my ground.

I ain't big and I ain't mighty, But you'll swear I'm ten feet tall and breathing fire. Mess with one of mine for doing what is right, And you'll learn what wakes a mother's righteous ire.

You wore your badge, your title, Like it gave you power over truth. Thought you could shame and bend him, Make him choose between God and you.

He stood there calm and steady, While you laughed and called him weak. But strength ain't measured by the fists you throw, It's holding firm to what you believe.
