Healing starts alone…

But it never ends that way.

I walked this road by myself at first

Every mile was a blessing and a curse

Carried old scenes like broken glass

From ten, twenty years in my past

Some memories still held a sting

Anger, shame, and everything

But I climbed a little higher one day

Saw my life from far away

I took an eagle’s view of the pain

Looked down without the blame

What once hurt me, I let it go

Changed the weight of what I know

I forgave you, I forgave me

Set that moment free

What was heavy lost its hold

From that height, the truth was gold

Funny how life don’t run straight

Every plan bends at the gate

I’ve never seen it turn out the way

I swore it would back yesterday

Sometimes worse, sometimes grace

But never the picture my mind would paint

So I quit trying to force the view

Started trusting what I can’t see through

I took an eagle’s view of the past

Didn’t let the moment last

I took the lesson, dropped the chain

Let love take the place of pain

Forgiveness changed the energy

Turned wounds into memory

What I thought would break my soul

Just helped me finally let go

Release don’t mean forget

It means peace ain’t failed you yet

Every shadow had a part

In shaping this softer heart

What’s ahead ain’t mine to know

Faith walks where sight won’t go

I stopped wrestling tomorrow

And laid it down with yesterday’s sorrow

I take an eagle’s view of my life

Above the fear, above the fight

What I release don’t follow me

It turns into who I’m meant to be

I don’t control what’s yet to come

I trust the work already done

From this height, I finally see

What was meant for me found me
