The Testimony of Bukasa Joseph Kalombo

My name is Bukasa Joseph Kalombo.

When I look back over my life,

from the child I used to be

to the man I am today,

I know one thing for certain:

It was not by my strength.

It was not by my wisdom.

It was not because the road was always easy.

It was the grace of God.

Through every season,

through every closed door,

through every tear,

through every battle,

Jesus Christ has been faithful.

And this is my song.

From the days when I was just a little boy,

Before I understood where life would take me,

I didn’t know the whole assignment,

I couldn’t see the road ahead,

But step by step You kept preparing me

To proclaim the words You said.

I have worked, I have struggled,

I have dreamed and started again.

I have seen some doors swing open,

I have watched some doors remain.

There were moments I had questions:

“God, what will tomorrow bring?”

But when everything around me started shaking,

You remained my Rock and King.

I have learned that disappointment

Doesn’t mean that You are gone.

Sometimes what looked like my ending

Was the birthplace of a song.
