Sunrise on the prairie, bird calls in the air

Today’s the day we’ve been waiting for, nothing else compares

We loaded the boat one more time

That Chevrolet heater turned on high

He got in the front seat

We headed to our spot with the thermos filled to the top

As the sunshine peeked the trees

All we could see were those bright orange feet

With our guns to the sky

We watched the feathers fly

It sure is one hell of a life living this waterfowl life

Morning hunts and good old times, under the wide blue sky

Friends and memories we make, in the marsh and lake

Living this waterfowl life, yeah, it feels so right

Holding steady as the decoys set

Every call we make is a metal threat

Laughs around the fire, stories told

From dawn till moon, our hearts are bold

With the sunrise in our eyes

We chase the wind, hear the geese cry
