A distant song drifts through the forest at night,While glowing leaves shimmer in soft silver light. When it’s night in my village, somewhere it’s day,But my heart still remembers the night that he stayed.
I walked through the forest where great trees all stand,Soft moss underfoot, warm earth on the land. That’s where I first saw him beneath Pandoran skies—The strange, gentle boy with the bright curious eyes.
At the roots of the Tree where the glowing vines bend,He stepped slowly closer and reached for my hand.“Oel ngati kameie,” I whispered so low—I see you, I see you, more than you know.
The bioluminescent seeds floated around,Like tiny white stars drifting down to the ground. And there by the river where the soft waters ran,That’s where I fell deeply for that boy on Pandora’s land.
In the dark of the night we would lie by the lake,Watching floating mountains slowly awake.Great ikran soaring high over forest and sand,While his warm hand rested inside of my hand.
“Ngati kameie,” he said back to me,His voice soft and unsure, but gentle and free.Though he spoke like the people who came from afar,His heart felt as bright as our beautiful stars.
We walked through the woods where the glowing plants grew,And every soft light felt alive as we knew. The drums of the clan echoed deep through the land,But my heart beat the loudest for that boy from another land.
“Eywa ngahu,” I whispered once under the sky,As great glowing woods drifted slowly nearby. Our spirits felt woven like roots in the sand,Two different worlds meeting on Pandora’s land.
Now sometimes at night when the forests all glow,And soft sacred seeds drift like quiet white snow,I sit by the water where we used to stand…
And whisper the words he once tried to understand:
“Oel ngati kameie…My heart will remainWith the boy that I metOn Pandora’s land.”
