Prompt / Lyrics
Well, it seems to be that time of year again. Time for songs, cheer, and memories. Families come together, and loved ones hold each other close…. But for some of us those memories don’t come easy. Our Christmas wish is something that can’t come true. We long to hold on to what we lost, as we sit alone. We’ll smile out in public for you, But inside a Christmas tear falls… blue. You’ll see me laugh, and wish you well. I’ll even help you hide that Christmas elf. Know that it means the world to me. That I get to see and laugh a while with you. I’ll be forever grateful, for the time we share together. And I hope you know that this part is true. But for some of us those memories don’t come easy. Our Christmas wish is something that can’t come true. We long to hold on to what we lost, as we sit alone. We’ll smile out in public for you, But inside a Christmas tear falls… blue. So come on snow won’t you come a falling. Go ahead and shut these winding roads down. Because this year, inside I keep breaking. And this mask I wear it’s startin to wear thin. And I’m scared that they might see, The broken man in me… I don’t want them to worry. But for some of us those memories don’t come easy. Our Christmas wish is something that can’t come true. We long to hold on to what we lost, as we sit alone. We’ll smile out in public for you, But inside a Christmas tear falls… blue. (Spoken word) I’ll bounce back after the holiday. But for now, I’ll be blue
