Laying into the promise

I used to pray for answers,

Now I pray for peace.

Used to beg for a breakthrough,

Now I ask for strength to believe.

I've stood in the courtroom,

I've sat in the dark.

I've carried questions so heavy,

They left their mark.

There were nights I couldn't see tomorrow,

Days I couldn't find my way.

But somewhere between the heartbreak

And all the pain,

I stopped asking You to show me every step,

And started trusting You anyway.

So I'm leaning into the promise,

Even when I can't see the plan.

Leaning into Your goodness,

When I don't understand.

Holding onto Your Word

Like a lifeline in the night.

I don't need to know the ending,

I just need to know You're right.

The sea may stand before me,

But I know who holds the tide.

So I'll lean into the promise,

And let faith be my guide.

I've chased my own direction,

I've tried to take control.

I've learned the hard way

That surrender saves the soul.

Because every closed door,

Every valley I walked through,

Looking back now,

Somehow it led me closer to You.

Maybe the miracle isn't always

The mountain moving out of the way.

Maybe the miracle is finding faith

Strong enough to stay.

So I'm leaning into the promise,

Even when I can't see the plan.

Leaning into Your goodness,

When I don't understand.

Holding onto Your Word

Like a lifeline in the night.

I don't need to know the ending,

I just need to know You're right.

"The Lord will fight for you;

you need only to be still."

That's Exodus fourteen fourteen,

And I've held onto it for real.

When fear says run,

When doubt says quit,

When the waves keep rising,

I stand on this:

If You brought me this far,

You won't leave me here.

The same God who made the promise

Is the same God standing near.

So I'm leaning into the promise,

Not because life's been easy.

Not because I've seen the outcome,

Not because believing's easy.

I'm leaning because You've been faithful

Every step behind me.

And if You've carried me this far,

I trust You'll carry me the rest of the way.

The sea may stand before me,

But I'm not standing there alone.

I'm leaning into the promise,

Until the promise brings me home.
